THIS STARTED AS A SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT AND IT'S BLOSSOMING INTO A PERSONAL PROJECT.
I asked strangers to write down how they responded to the attacks on September 11, 2001, and then I took their portraits... Some wrote about their immediate response and others wrote about the lingering effects of the event in their lives today.
I FINALLY TOOK A CLASS WITH THE INFAMOUS JOHN REES.
We've covered a lot of ground in the past six weeks (literally and figuratively). The following images are my responses to assignments given in class.
ICONIC + IRONIC
(inspired by a favorite artist)
Barbara Kruger has been a favorite of mine for a long time.
Trained as a graphic designer and photographer,
her work tackles issues ranging from consumerism to feminism.
CAPITOL REEF IS INCREDIBLE.
The UVU Landscape Photography class, taught by Travis Lovell, joined forces with John Rees' Photographic Illustration class and set off to Capitol Reef for a week. Good company, good food, fresh air, and massive piles of camera equipment made this the best week of my college career. By far.
